My first commissioned mural was conceived in 2001. After painting on pre-stretched canvas and board, I was excited for the challenge of painting on larger surfaces. A U.S. foreign service officer asked me to paint a nursery wall with a scene from her child's favorite character story. Winnie the Pooh's 'Pooh Sticks' came to life on that wall, opening a world of adventure for her little one and my new found art interest. To view other murals I've painted, click the button below:
My first art class was oil painting. Intrigued with art, I took a second course in the foundation of art design. Wowed by art principles and elements, I finally decided to major in art education. Numerous painting, drawing, art history and art education classes followed. I created, trashed, re-discovered and sold my artwork for years and am thrilled that holding a brush has become an extension of my hand. To view my paintings, click the button below:
I opened Keystone Art Studio in 2006. Within a year, I had a small group of art students and art retail of customers who became 'regulars' of the studio. One particular student shared his time in both visual and theater arts. With an upcoming middle school production of Aladdin and no painter, he asked the producer to approach me with an offer. Willing to establish my name in the area, I shook hands on the deal. In 2013, I finished my seventh theater season with the middle school. Every artist has their strength. Some paint portraits, design art graphics and sculpt. Some build their craft using a needle and thread and others in drawing. Most art educators learn to work with a variety of mediums in order to best educate amateur artists. As a result of my portfolio having a good healthy melange of artwork and craft, I've been asked to create items for charities, sponsor contests and display in public venues.
